While driving through Mazomanie, WI today I spotted a road
called Turkey Road and instantly thought we need to find out where it
goes. My husband always ready for an adventure - jumped
aboard and we started driving up this narrow rather winding road. We found a treasure of scenery that even the waning days of winter could not diminish.
Can not imagine the beauty during
the warmer months and especially fall.
Along the way were some interesting homes and horrific drive
ways. Brave people live along this
road. Turkey Road teed Scherbel Rd. We
opted to take a right (seem like it would logically take us back to Hwy 14) and
were so pleasantly surprised to find we had found the back way into Festge
County Park outside of Cross Plains, Wi.
A great place to stop to stretch the legs, enjoy the beautiful
overlooks, or have a picnic. There are
trails and camping as well. We will be taking this bit of a detour many times again.
Goes to show – never be afraid to take the roads less traveled. You just never know…
