Wow – hard to believe it has been over a year since I added
any posts. Life “happened” a whole lot
over the last months. Lots of happy
mixed with a bit of sad, but life goes on and so do my travels.
To start - a couple of updates on previous posts:
·
The Amish Walmart has new hours. They are now only open Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday from 8am to 6 pm. (7/9/14
post)
·
The Cinnamon Stick has unfortunately closed
their doors. (6/15/16 post)
Now on to the new and a couple must stop restaurants
My Sister’s
Kitchen
The first recommendation is “My Sister’s Kitchen” located at 2227 Parmenter St., Middleton
WI. The exterior is nothing to look at
but the interior is charming with booth, counter, and table seating
available. Service is good, and the food
is amazing. You will not find a better
breakfast anywhere, especially the hash browns.
Everything we have ever tried has been spot on in flavor with generous
serving sizes.
Two things you need to know before you visit:
·
They do not take plastic- but do have a time
machine at the entrance
·
Highly recommend finding street parking. While a small parking lot is available in the
back it’s a rough road getting in and out.
There is no website, but I have attached a link to their Facebook
page where you can find hours, reviews, pictures and more.

The place is small, so you may have a little wait
depending on the day and time, but well worth it. Hope you enjoy “My Sister’s Kitchen” as much
as we do.
Hiway Harry’s
Another new favorite is “Hiway Harry’s” located at 710 Glovers Ln, Johnson Creek WI. The name sounds like a greasy spoon truck
stop (which by the way they are actually across the street from), but I guarantee
you it is not.
It has an interior feel of a fine dining venue, minus the
fine dining cost. What really was fun
were the unconventional round booths – so retro. Soups are amazing, the burgers are huge, and all
around portion sizes on the generous side.
Attached find a link to their website - https://hi-wayharrys.com/
Whether you are traveling on I90 between Madison and
Milwaukee, or traveling some back road between wherever and Johnson Creek – do take
the time to try “Hiway Harry’s out.
